So this morning it snowed and snowed

...and I answered emails and shoveled. Long story short: the Rustic Bunting is still here and still looks healthy, but its visits are far less predictable than they were earlier this winter.

Hats off to Glen for feeding the birds and keeping the bunting's feeding areas clear when we've been absent.

Harvey took these photos today. The first photo shows the long nails that a biologist had commented on when he was here to see the bird. And look at that tidy vent!

Our pleasure, Nick! :)

A treat indeed! I hope you have your binoculars there, Ian! Who knows what might be lurking in those trees! There's a stray Brambling now MIA. On a far less unusual note, one winter afternoon I watched a puffed out Golden-crowned Kinglet from the kitchen window there instead of writing. And that's crossbill heaven! I hope you're having a great stay!

That first photo is particularly piercing, B. (One of yours or H's?)

It is piercing, isn't it! The photos are H's.

The phrase 'tidy vent' sounds dirty.

But it's so clean!
