On the edge

...yet blending in. Birds do this so well.

This American Tree Sparrow was one of dozens in the yard today. I watched them for quite some time. After all, migration happens quickly and they're just passing through.

So a short while ago I decided to take a few pics to mark the occasion. To capture the blending. To keep a bit of its beauty to myself. I was in the kitchen, carefully poking the lens out the window, being as quiet as possible. But the zoom makes noise. I know this. I know better.

Sure enough, the bird looked straight at me. And sure enough, soon after it left.

Thanks Shawna! There was still snow when the pics were taken, though it was melting quickly by then. It disappears first where the rock meets the ground like the spot in the photos. It's all gone now. Now to get the yard work done before the next snow!

At least you got a couple of very nice images of him before he decided to leave. So glad your snow is retreating, and finally giving way to other things.

Thanks! Spent yesterday raking while the sparrows and robins were doing their bit. It was a busy yard!
