A week of strict blogrest

...is what H prescribed and I must say it did wonders. We spent much of that week on the road, enjoying the spectacle of migration. Flocks of geese everywhere, the numbers skyrocketing as we approached the place where I grew up. The place where sandhill cranes rule. Fields of cranes. Sky of cranes. It's unreal.

On our way to that place we stopped many times. H took this pic of me shooting a culvert at Cut-arm Creek.

I think a few of the pics I took will end up on Culvert Installations. We'll see.

I also have a new skill to add to my CV: bug whisperer. Indeed, it seems I'm a gifted tree cricket spotter. I located a number of them during our hikes as H wanted to photograph them. I imagine he'll be adding tree cricket pics to his blog in the weeks to come.

Here we are, hot on the trail.

Shadows of our firmer selves.

More about the road trip and the books I bought in the days to come. In the meantime, check here for Ariel's take on the first stop of the Nightowls & Newborns Western Tour, in which I played a wee part while looking as if I belong in a wax museum.

Wow. That culvert pic is amazing! It looks like you are six inches away from falling through to another world.

That IS an amazing culvert pic! Looks like blogrest was revitalising. A great idea.

I'm envious of complete blog rest...

Thanks Tracy and Shawna! And I was about 6 inches away from falling. I really ought to learn to swim. Either that or wear a helmet and a flotation device. Though I suspect my head would float just fine.

Lemon Hound, while I was on strict blogrest, I didn't quite achieve complete blogrest. But it was close. I have only a couple blog feeds on the notebook I use while on the road and I did peek at those occasionally and briefly. The dial-up connection I had to use for part of the week certainly discouraged anything more than a quick reply to the few emails that were time sensitive. All in all, the blogrest was refreshing. My plan for the next year is to step away from the computer on occasion for a week or so at a time. Take holidays.
