Well it's April

...and my book will be out shortly. I'm not sure when exactly, but soon. The launches are coming right up and there are other events in the works. With that in mind, I've been looking through the proofs, trying to decide what I'll read. This book is very different from my last two. It's far more playful, so planning the readings has been fun. Fun has been my main focus these days. I look forward to celebrating.

UPDATE:

We did the nocturnal owl survey tonight. We heard one boreal owl on our route. The conditions were perfect. Calm. Clear. And the stars! What a night.

for the last few weeks we've had an owl party in the woods outside the back of our house... what a racket...unruly teens no doubt (and how I envy them their spring blissout!)

good luck with the book launch, don't forget to post where we can order it

How wonderful! You're lucky! And I imagine it's quite warm there, too, at least nice enough to sit out and enjoy their spring blissout, as you call it. What a great way to put it.

Thanks! I'm looking forward to it. I'll be sure to post links where it can be ordered as soon as they appear. McNally Robinson has it listed in events right now.

Though its not quite the same thing, we saw burrowing owls at the Zoo yesterday...

I'm looking back to reports on the launches (and the cake at the launches)!

I love burrowing owls.

Ah yes, the cakes, the lovely lovely cakes. That doesn't seem all that long ago. I remember the wonderful cake from you. I wonder if there will be cake at these launches? I haven't been lobbying for cake as I normally do. Perhaps I should just in case. After all, an event without cake is no event.

I'm really looking forward to the Regina launch. Congrats on the new book.

We're going to have a hoot(in keeping with the owl thing)!

Thanks, Tracy!

Ha! Yes, we will get together. I'm dying for a bread basket. And who makes the best cake in Regina? I'm starting to panic about cake.

I believe that the Cathedral Bakery has the best cake in town. Better make sure your publisher knows you need cake!

Bread basket after or before?

Brenda Schmidt said...

Thanks! Good to know.

I dunno. Expressing my cake needs to my publisher would seem a tad prima donna-ish.

Brenda Schmidt said...

And the bread basket. Before, I think. We'll set something up back door.

Isn't the whole point of writing a book so that you can be a diva?

When are you touring your book in Calgary? Hmmmm?

Brenda Schmidt said...

Hm. I seem to be missing the diva gene. If it were present I'd be demanding a big fat cake in Calgary. Alas, knowing me I'll likely be in the parking lot at some Safeway between points A and B, having a quick piece of cake, feeling selfish and guilty as some ring-billed gull stands there looking at me with those cute little gull eyes.

If you come to Calgary, I will find you a venue. And maybe Kimmy can open the show? Huh? Whatcha think?

I can get you a cupcake from Crave. No cakes though, unless it's icecream.

Brenda Schmidt said...

Really? How cool of you. What a generous offer!

This Crave? They say their cupcakes have true buttercream icing! Buttercream icing!!! That alone is worth the trip.

They are unreal. I'm pretty sure they put narcotics in them.
