Nice companion piece to 'Small Song for a Ring-necked Pheasant' without the uh, let's say, innuendo. Love it!

Thanks, A! That rabbit was such a darling. It's so fun collaborating with H on these. He gets the video on chance encounters. We were birdwatching when he got this. We were putting along in the car, birding by ear, and heard a bird we wanted to check out, so we stopped. That's when we noticed the rabbit.

From the get-go we decided to follow certain constraints for these videosonnets, just as you and I did when we did the homolinguistic translations. Given the average raw video time, we decided a sonnet is the perfect length, and a Shakespearean sonnet would be the rule. Once I view the raw video, I set about writing a sonnet that speaks with it in some way. Of course, as has long been the case with me, my sonnets have a limerick-like tone. My apologies to the real sonnet writers out there. :) I then record a reading of the sonnet. H takes the audio and edits the video and marries the two. It's a fun exercise.

Way to honour the jackrabbit, H and B. I'm going to borrow your idea for my students if you don't mind--get them to shoot some video, write some text. You should approach SCN or somebody for funding to do a bunch of these.

Thanks, Gerry! Great idea. Your students will have a blast doing this.
