Fernie Writers Conference (Day 7): It was a joy

...to be part of the Fernie Writers Conference, and it was a joy when, midway through the morning, the conference participants gathered outside for a group photo. As I smiled at the camera, I could picture someone hunched over the photo sometime down the road, putting names to faces. Now here I am, doing just that.

The workshop wrapped up at 1 pm. We hit the road shortly thereafter. Hats off to everyone who had a hand in making the Fernie Writers Conference the great event it was. Special thanks to Keith Liggett, the conference director, and to the participants in the poetry workshop. What a great group!

I wanted to chime in after taking a look all week and say that it was the ultimate joy to read along...

(Of course, my comment is all downhill from there...but this is the view from the prairies.)

(The weekend I've had!)

I'd like to say the Conference would not have been a success without Brenda, John Keeble, Angie Abdou and Phil Rowley. They brought a keen eye for language and an ear for voice to every session.

In the panel discussions, the breadth of experience became even more obvious.

Of course for many of us at the Conference, the first task of the morning was checking out Brenda's blog to see what we "really" did the day before. Her humor and perspective set the tone for the group.

To quote Brenda quoting Robert Frost, "Poetry is serious fun."

Thanks, Ariel!

Thanks for that, Keith! Thanks again for everything. What an incredible week!
