So your mighty towel can help me through any movement?

:D

Well, I suspect it would function like some of my favourite goalies: great through regulation and OT, but not so great in a shootout.

I have only the fainest idea what you might be talking about, but am now afraid to even go near Rhett's blog.

Brenda Schmidt said...

No need to be afraid, G. Some bloggers would pass on the subject, but that would be lax. Considering everything, Rhett makes a pretty solid case.

Speaking of being afraid, those with shark phobia - you know who you are - should not go near Bookninja right now!

Nice towel!

Er ... um ... er. You don't know me from Eve, but I found you on the Sage Hill site. I'm thinking of attending this summer. Do you recommend it? Do you ooh and ah it? Will I come out brilliant?

Do tell!

Brenda Schmidt said...

Thank you, Shannon! I love my towel.

As for Sage Hill, I do nothing but ooh and ah it. I strongly recommend it. I have nothing but good things to say. It was money very well spent. It's had a huge, positive effect on my writing. The facility is perfectly suited to the program. The faculty was great. The food was awesome the year I was there. Several readers of this blog have done Sage Hill as well. I hope they chime in here. The lasting connections and friends I made there were the most surprising benefits. The only regret I have is that I should've gone to Sage Hill earlier. Apply!

That is super helpful and encouraging. I think I will get rolling with the application process this long Easter weekend, then. I feel inspired by you!

Weee! Thanks for responding. :)

I agree with B (not about the towel, because even though I'm not a huge hockey fan, I still think "that team" towel is just wrong) but that Sage Hill is terrific. You won't regret the time or the money spent; you'll enjoy the place (quiet and secluded, but walking distance to Lumsden, short driving distance to Regina), the people, and most of all the instructors. Part of the charm is the interaction of the instructors and the attendees. With the summer session people mingle not only with their group, but with everyone. The energy is fantastic and creative. Most definitely a worthy experience where many of the connections last years beyond the experience.

Excellent. Good luck, Shannon!

Tracy, are you knocking my Leafs???

Tracy Hamon said...

Not that I have a team that I cheer for, but yes, I am knocking your leafs. In keeping with their name, they need to be mulched and composted.

Brenda Schmidt said...

EEK! I can't believe my eyes! Uh, you do remember we'll be travelling together? Being a hockey fan, I happen to know a few locker room pranks. If I were you I'd mind my shoes...

Tracy Hamon said...

Ha! If I was to be a hockey fan I would retaliate.

However, I always have a few things up my sleeve, especially if I can speak German better than you.

Brenda Schmidt said...

Ha!

Ok. Maybe I'll go unpack the shaving cream...

Sage Hill was good. I think the funniest thing, aside from my own shannigans, was that when I went I didn't know who Robert Kroetsch was and then the next year I took Can Lit and I was smacking myself in the head and then I was dead. Luckily, I was revived by my personal lifeguard.

With that in mind, I don't know who the instructors are but I am sure they are fabulous and it's always valuable to live amongst monks any time you have a chance.

Also, I am happy to report I am feeling much better, but I just ate some spaghetti with very spicy sauce and I fear for the worst.

:D

I can't - won't! - comment on towels, the niche product that are hockey towels, or irritable bowels...but I will say that I met some nifty people and got a much needed knock-on-the- ass from my Sage Hill instructor.

And that's the truth. Pfft!

Brenda Schmidt said...

Thanks Rhett! Thanks Ariel!

Well, that's it from me for a while. H and the cat will be holding down the fort until my return. In the meantime, check Tracy's blog for updates on our adventure. Wait a minute - do you hear singing???

The hills are alive
with the sound of Brenda...

Good grief!,

Was that a tumbleweed?

Am I the only one who wonders why Brenda has three dictionaries on her shelf? Not three different dictionaries, mind you, but three of the exact same dictionary. Wouldn't one suffice in that case?

Brenda Schmidt said...

Ha! Ok, G.

Rob, who says I have only three? :)
