Today was an exciting day in the Schmidt house

...after the new bookcases were delivered and more exciting yet when they were assembled. Even the cat was excited. They look exactly as pictured. Tomorrow we'll load them up. Our bookcases have been crammed for quite some time. I weeded them out and took some novels to the used bookstore not so long ago, but new books arrived in the mail. I brought books home from everywhere I went. I have piles of books all over the place. Mountains of books. And yes, I read them.

Wow. I'm envious. Not of the bookcases, but the fact that you have that many books that you need new ones.

I love my books. H has mountains of books, too. We have bookcases in most rooms of the house. I often return to the books I keep, but the trick is to find them. Someone mentioned a couple publishers today and I knew I have books by them, but it took me forever to locate them. With the additional bookcases we should be able to organize things a bit better. I still don't know how to safely store my chapbook collection, though.

When you figure out how to safely store chapbooks, let me know, please. I have my collection of others' chaps in one box and my collection of the ones I've published in another. Doesn't seem right, to have them in boxes.

Congrats regarding books and bookshelves, and good luck sorting! I completed that massive task not too long ago.

Hey, how about a pic? Once they're alphabetised. Say, around the "M" section, near the end. "MT or MV" or thereabouts.

You said it, b-, it's bizarre to have such gorgeous works stuck in boxes. Then again, it's wonderful to pull them out of a box and rediscover them again. Maybe I have to find a nicer box. Hmm. Maybe a trunk.

G, I was thinking that very thing! Of course I'll have the pic framed and I'll hang it above the bookcase. However, instead of taking a pic, I was thinking of doing an oil painting of it in the style of Still Life with Fish, Vegetables, Gougères, Pots, and Cruets on a Table only I'll call it something like Still Life with Fish on the Cover of a Fine Book Beside Another Fine Book in the MT-MV Section of the New Bookcase.

What a good idea, Brenda! Funny, I've been thinking the same thing. I've been looking forever for a right piece of art for my livingroom, and thought a blown up photo of my bookcase might be cool...except I'm not much of a photographer, and I can't paint.
