The ceremony at Government House

The beautiful ceremony at Government House on April 10 recognizing Saskatchewan's 7th Poet Laureate feels like a dream. Thank you to Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan, Her Honour the Honourable Vaughn Solomon Schofield.

Here are a few pics from the evening.

Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan, Her Honour the Honourable Vaughn Solomon Schofield met with us prior to the ceremony. Pictured to the right of Her Honour is Courtney Bates-Hardy, Executive Director of the Saskatchewan Book Awards, and Judith Silverthorne, Executive Director of the Saskatchewan Writers' Guild. To the left is Brenda Schmidt and Harvey Schmidt.

The 6th Saskatchewan Poet Laureate Gerald Hill carries on the tradition of presenting a gift to the incoming Poet Laureate.

Thank you to everyone who came out, showed support, and helped celebrate this occasion. The happy hum of conversation in the ballroom under that enormous chandelier will be with me forever. What an amazing community and amazing province in which to live. Cheers to all!

Commencing in 2000, the Saskatchewan Poet Laureate Program was the first provincial program of its kind in Canada.  The Saskatchewan Arts Board, Saskatchewan Book Awards and the Saskatchewan Writers’ Guild are partners in the program, which is under the patronage of the Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan, Her Honour the Honourable Vaughn Solomon Schofield.
