Manitoba Butterflies: A Field Guide

...came in the mail today. It is gorgeous!

Manitoba Butterflies: A Field Guide by Simone Hébert Allard.

As I've mentioned before, the arrival of a new field guide is always an occasion in this house. I'm very excited about this one as Harvey's photos of a Green Comma (Polygonia faunus) butterfly and pupa are in this book.

Good-looking book. I've become interested in these sorts of "limited audience" books that are a solid integration of text and image. My wife is very fond of them -- many, many books about aspects of Korean cooking and travel in our house.

Yes, there are books for everyone and everything! Thank goodness. It's a treat when they're well thought out and beautifully designed.

Another field guide to get! This will be one that travels along in my birding bag during my summer-time prowls around MB, SK & ND.

And, congrats to Harvey.

It's a dandy looking guide! It will definitely be traveling around with us as well.
