I bet anyone who reads

...Phillip Lopate's superb essay "How I Became an Emersonian" (from his new book To Show and To Tell: The Craft of Literary Nonfiction, which I highly recommend, as I do Portrait Inside My Head, his new book of essays) will be most curious about the two-volume Selected Journals he discusses and be tempted to make the same purchase. These arrived yesterday.

Meanwhile the snow is sinking. I expect to see the first junco of the spring any time now.

The New York Times has a review of To Show and To Tell and Portrait Inside My Head. I might have to take a deep breath and reach for my wallet.

Worth every penny! Beware, at the end of To Show and To Tell there is a reading list that's 14 pages long. I've already ordered several books thanks to it! My wallet is now empty! :)

Oh dear. Just when I thought I was recovering from a summer without work ;^(

That's the trouble with good books.

All the snow does make for exception reading weather. May the juncos arrive shortly.

It sure does! I had a feeling something would show up today, but nope. Tomorrow!

We've had juncos in our Regina backyard since Saturday. They are on their way! And thanks for the book recommendations, Brenda.
