A birder's dream came

...in the mail today.

The Modern Beginnings of Subarctic Ornithology: Northern Correspondence with the Smithsonian Institution, 1856-68, edited and introduced by Debra Lindsay. I had no idea this book even existed. Many thanks to Ariel for sending it my way.

I'm pretty sure Gerry wouldn't appreciate the book, going by his poem over at The Winnipeg Review.

I'm glad you like it, B! Sorry there was no winsome note or other ephemera in the package: I had a HUGE stack of books to get in the mail.

Ha! What I'd give to receive a winsome note from the likes of you! Seriously, the book looks fabulous!

Ha! Nice!

And thanks for the link to Gerry's work!

Yes, it will be a challenge to convert him to Birdism.

Are you kidding? That book looks fabulous. Good for keeping maps flat--no but seriously!
