...happening south of here. Stay inside and stay warm, people!
Here it's grey. Windy. The birds look cold. I've been reading and taking notes. Later today I will take down the poems that now cover the wall in front of me to make room for whatever comes. Having the poems tacked up on the wall has been working well for me. Just seeing that I've been productive, that something is actually happening, is exciting.
By the way, I have more books on order. The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins and Ysabel by Guy Gavriel Kay. Not being a fan of hardcovers, I usually wait for the paperback, but I made a couple of exceptions here. Recent comments on other blogs have left me curious about the Dawkins book and I've been looking forward to Kay's new one for quite some time. I hope the books will be riveting enough to make up for the clumsy, heavy covers, not to mention the sound of the cat's head when she bunts the book. Only well-structured, well-written books can stand up to a furry, purring wrecking ball.

It's real cold here too. Where's a chinook when you need one?
I heard on the Ceeb that most of Canada is getting dumped on. Damn geographic stereotypes living up to themselves. Makes me want to drink beer and play hockey.
It was almost 10 degrees here today, but I just looked at the weather and it says we're at zero and under a snowfall warning. Great. I blame everything west of Corner Brook for this.
Can one drink beer and play hockey at the same time? How does one carry a stick, shoot the puck, and body check someone smaller (hopefully) into the boards for the fans delight,(and at that point, the cheer of a huge wave of fanoidal delight would be appreciated) without spilling yer beer? Can it be done?
Well Rhett, you're in chinookville. I say you should put in a request. I had to go out and it was cold. Apple red cheeks don't do a thing for me at my age.
It makes you want to play hockey? G, are you feeling ok? Next you'll be watching Hockey Night in Canada. There's hope for you yet!
Tracy, although I'm just a tea drinker, I believe it would be possible using a hydration pack. The player could drink and skate at the same time and have enough beer for the entire game.
Speaking of hockey, Hockey Day in Canada is coming right up. H and I saved Tracy's famous salsa for that very occasion.
Usually we just left our beers on the side and as we skated by we stopped for a quick refresher. Nice and cold and smooth. Oh yah.
I called the Department of Chinooks--the phones were all tied up.
I meant consecutively. And repetitiously.
Keep trying, Rhett. In the meantime, I'll keep tabs on this lively poetry-based conversation. By the way, Rhett, I decided to keep peanuts in my, uh, purse. H then hid the peanuts.
And here I thought you meant continuously, G. All that product research for not. I should be compensated for my time. Really.
I'd like to order a chinook too Rhett, so if you get through...
I'm thinking the only thing better than drinking beer while playing hockey, would be to recite poetry, drink beer, and get a hat-trick all in one game.
You guys are all talking hockey! I must have died and gone to heaven.
We need to get each NHL team to adopt a poet-in-residence... I nominate B for PiR of the Saskatoon Mountaineers. That's a team, right? They shoot good touchdowns from their skis, don't they? I heard they took home six wickets and have scored ten baskets with just their one irons this season. Can't wait for the Prairie Bowl. It's more of a plate, really, but I'm still excited.
Good grief. So much for heaven.
