...I'm not
grey-haired and bare, I am brown-haired and bearable. Well, I'm bearable most of the time. Not so much, perhaps, when I've written something to my satisfaction. Then I've been known to email close writer friends to share my glee. This usually involves describing my celebratory food. Today, for instance, I celebrated with a bowl of Cream of Wheat with a few raisins, cinnamon and some freshly grated nutmeg. It doesn't get better than that.

Mmmm...I haven't had Cream of Wheat in ages. Maybe if I work really hard today, I'll have reason to put some in the pot.
Is Cream of Wheat the new steak?
I'm sorry, cream of wheat does NOT constitute a celebratory feast...nor does Red River Cereal or oatmeal. Or even gruel.
How about the cinnamon in some buns or just plain buns?
Anita, at the rate you've been going, you should be having a celebratory feast every day. Your pace is amazing.
Ha! Funny, John. Though I would take Cream of Wheat over a steak any time.
Ariel, you must have been a fun one to feed Pablum to when you were a baby.
Mm! Mom, your cinnamon buns are the best! And so are your buns. I'm practically drooling just thinking of them.
Dude, I think of you like a sister, but your notion of a well-rounded celebration leaves me thinking, O Brother, what a square.
Someday I'll show you how to post-poem party. It involves dark chocolate brownies, good latte (Lavazza or Ily) and a cryptic crossword. Mmmmm! Jittery puzzling!
Ha! Square schmare. You city people and your fancy pants coffee. I drink mine black. And after dealing with my poems, why on earth would I celebrate with a cryptic crossword? Hello! Good grief. Now dark chocolate brownies I can understand.
I myself like a hit of oatmeal porridge. Begin with steel cut rolled oats and cook them slowly with sultanas and cinnamon. But sometimes, I cook the oats with butter and honey and make them into SQUARES.
Too bad y'all couldn't see the message I tried to post (twice) the other day about the preferred drink of writers inside a quinzee. Just for the record, it isn't hot chocolate.
Ah, so being a square is a good thing. Heck, G was actually paying me a compliment!
True enough. I bet you could count the ones who drink hot chocolate on one finger.
