...as soon as I finish Joel Hynes's Down to the Dirt. It's been a great read so far. I can hardly put it down, though I did just that for the world juniors medal games. How about Team Canada!
Down in the Dirt looks good, Brenda! I just finished David Bergen's The Time In Between, and loved-loved-loved it. While I was at Byron Rempel's reading the other night, the event coordinator recommended to me Jan Lars Jensen's Nervous System, which is apparently a memoir about how the author lost his mind (really) between the time he signed a contract with a US publishing house, and the book's release. He began thinking that if people read his book, it would bring about the end of the world (so says my book recommender). The first line reads, "Lying in bed, I waited for my killer."
I finished Down to the Dirt last night and it was excellent. If I hadn't heard Hynes read from his upcoming novel, I really doubt if I would've picked this book up. He's a fantastic reader and the words really caught my attention. I'll definitely buy his next book. Going by what I read, I think Hynes has an incredibly bright future as a novelist.
Darn, I heard Bergen read from it, but I didn't buy the novel. I'll have to check it out. The Jensen book sounds like quite the book. Yikes.
I haven't read Joels book yet, but I've seen the play based on it. The Devil You Know. Very good. CBC piloted a show called Rabbittown on Tuesday night, not sure when it's on a gain but keep and eye out for it. Joel is in it as well, and it's filmed in our neighbourhood! Cara

I love books about writers going insane.

Cool. Thanks, Cara. I just found Rabbittown. I can watch it online. I see Hynes is in Hatching, Matching and Dispatching as well.
