I finished reading both chapbooks. They are both solid.
I read Fred Wah's yesterday. Wah's work always leaves me feeling as if I'm perched on some periphery, looking. This book is no exception. According to the acknowledgements, most of Isadora Blue was written during his participation in the 2002-2003 Canada-Mexico Photography/Writing Exchange. The four prose pieces are outstanding.
Bren Simmers is a poet I will keep my eye on. I read Fire Lookout this morning. These ghazals are fresh. Clean. I will return to them.
