Following the optimism

...resources links at the end of this Globe article, I ended up watching this great one-minute video. I'd love to do a video response replacing the word "hitter" with "poet." But I'm not sure how to end it.

Speaking of optimism, here's the latest on the plan to save the Perehudoff murals in the old Intercontinental Packers building in Saskatoon. The building is slated for demolition next year. The removal of the murals involves Nova Scotia cod fish.

On our way home yesterday

...we drove under an endless line of snow geese. I'm into line breaks, so here.

We were in Saskatoon on Wednesday for the Hagios Press fall launch. Three new books. Soul to Touch by Anne Campbell, Life in the Canopy by Bruce Rice and House Beneath by Susan Telfer. It was a fine launch. Bruce Rice, a poet I've been following for years, was the final reader. He concluded his reading by reciting a long, poignant poem from his book. Outstanding.

International Rock Flipping Day

...is this Sunday. I learned about it over on Pohanginapete. If the weather cooperates, I plan to take part.

Advance copies of two novels came

...in the mail today. What a nice surprise. Remedies by Kate Ledger and This Is Where I Leave You by Jonathan Tropper.

I was randomly selected. I'd joined the Penguin Book Club a month or two ago after seeing a tweet on Twitter, and was automatically entered into their monthly contests. Free books. Can't go wrong with that.
