A warm account
...of the writing life can be almost as good as chocolate. My favourite paragraph begins with this: "Not knowing what you're writing about is the great thrill of poetry. That and finding out."

A Noiseless Patient Spider

Here's the trouble

Rembrandt was born
...400 years ago. Holland will be celebrating his birthday throughout 2006. I was just thinking about his timeline and a recent unrelated conversation about pop culture. I know I'm no Rembrandt, but I think it might be a useful exercise to write down my own timeline and tack it up somewhere. I can edit it as time goes on. It will look right at home among my growing collection of odd cards.

Writers and oysters
...go together quite nicely.
I'll be back soon. In the meantime, here is a little taste of my current situation.

The upcoming National Ecopoetics Symposium
...is set for March 16-19 at Brandon University and the Art Gallery of SWM. Di Brandt is the Canada Research Chair in English at Brandon University. According to the notice that was passed on to me, the symposium participants include Erin Moure, Sue Sinclair, Mari-Lou Rowley, Charlene Diehl, Pamela Banting, Rhea Tregebov, Oana Avasilichioaei, and Rachel Zolf. I tried to find a link on the Brandon University website, but no luck at the moment.
I'd love to go. I have the trip to BC to do readings at Vertigo Voices in Vernon on March 8 and at Writers West at Okanagan College in Penticton on March 9 and I'll be going to Talking Fresh 4 in Regina on March 24-25. But I'll see.

Is art being

Apparently shoehorns are accessories.

I'm thinking ahead to the next
...couple weeks as well, so this will likely be my last post for the month. I'll spend the next while viewing the viewless, reviewing viewpoints and dodging viewfinders. Or at least trying. Wish me luck.

Archives
...were a topic of conversation recently. I don't know much about it, so I checked out the links at the Saskatchewan Archives Board. I think my archives should include the following two significant items and the related documentary material.

A fine writer mailed them to me at the end of 2005. I feel really big when I hold that little chair in my hand.

I just marked
...Talking Fresh 4 on the calendar. The sessions look really good. I don't know about having lunch in the cafeteria though. Me and cafeterias spell trouble. It's those trays.
